Lecture: Art and the Apocalypse • February 6 @ England Run Library, 7:00-8:00
Art has a unique way of communicating thoughts and feelings over long periods of time, and transforming things we are afraid of into concrete images and tales we can observe on a more manageable level. How does art help us resist the negative “apocalyptic” forces in the world? How can we use art as a form of resistance and hope? How do common motifs convey meaning and intention? How can we invert traditional apocalyptic motifs to convey instead themes of triumph, transformation, regrowth, and continuity? Join me for an exploration of art history and mythology, and a discussion of how those themes influence the individual creative process.
